AlfaBB.com announced today that James Glickenhaus, the owner of the P 4/5 Enzo-based supercar, is the owner of the first Alfa 8C Competizione in the USA.
Jano has met him in person before and he’s a very nice guy — generous with his time.
Here’s a pic from the AlfaBB.com thread of the 8C next to the P 4/5 (my apologies that the P 4/5 is in the foreground!):

You know how the French take the month of August off? Well let’s just pretend that where Jano is from, August lasts from September to, oh, April.
But enough about me…here’s some news I am a few weeks late in posting: “Fiat Chief Executive Sergio Marchionne told the London newspaper Alfa would beginning selling cars in the U.S. next year”…this is quote is taken from a Michele Krebs article that itself references a Financial Times piece from late March 2008 regarding the possibility of Alfa parent Fiat producing cars in the US as soon as 2011.

According to some blog that some other blogger found for me (Jano does not have time to read every automotive blog in creation…some are so dreadfully boring), the Alfa Romeo 8C Spyder will be available in a convertible model starting in 2009.

I generally avoid the Autoblog.com like I do potholes.
IJHO, it’s pretty boring compared to something like Jalopnik.com.
But this week, they translated some info from a German site regarding the upcoming Alfa Romeo Junior. I love Italians. They have no problems naming a very hot hatch “Junior”. That would be like Volkswagen calling the R32 the “Bunny”.
See it for yourself at the link below:

Truth be told, there hasn’t been much to report in terms of hard news or even gossip regarding Alfa’s return to the US.
But today, the foiks at Jalopnik posted about a neat little special edition of the 147, styled in conjunction with clothier CoSTUME NATIONAL

Turns out Jano has two friends who were at the Rolex Vintage Festival at Lime Rock Park.
So once again I will take the easy route and simply post up some of their pix.

Jano is feeling lazy this week, so in the spirit of a picture being worth a thousand words…here is a pretty Giulietta Sprint from the Sunday car show

Okay, so i’ve missed a few days. Give me a break, it was Labor Day here in the States.
This past weekend, a friend of mine went to the Rolex Vintage Festival at Lime Rock Park in CT. Apparently it was crazy with Alfa Romeos — especially on the track. Here’s my favorite out of all the Alfa Romeo racecars he got pix of, a beast known as the “Volpi Special”:

This one is a home market one, I assume.
It underscores the primary reason people will buy Alfa Romeo’s here (and why they buy them abroad): beauty. I’m pretty sure the super that comes up says something like “Beauty you can hear.” And I don’t think they are talking about the exhaust/induction noise alone.
Enjoy.

The YouTube video linked below is a great piece of marketing that IJHO (in Jano’s humble opinion) Alfa Romeo should just repurpose for use over here come 2009. No, seriously.
It says everything that you need to say. It also pre-empts whatever negatives or reservations the Top Gear presenters had by saying “tell people what ever you want, but it’s an Alfa Romeo, it’s friggin’ gorgeous, and that’s why you bought it”.
